Workshop at World Book Fair 2026 organised by National Book Trust
A workshop on ‘Traditional Dolls of India and the World’ was taken by Ms. Usha Chhabra at the World Book fair 2026 organised by National Book Trust. A ppt showing many traditional dolls with their stories was shared. Along with that many traditional dolls of India were displayed for the audience to see and feel them. Children, parents and educators all found the workshop very interesting.They were motivated to share their own memories with these dolls. Talpater Sepahi, Channapatna dolls of Karnataka, Laiphadibi dolls of Manipur,Kathaliya dolls of West Bengal. Kanne putri dolls of Champaran, Shola pith dolls, Bommai dolls of Tamil Nadu were some of them. It was highlighted that toy pedagogy emphasized by New Education Policy also incorporates dolls as a tool for Social Emotional Learning in children, fostering self-awareness, empathy, relationship skills etc.
