Storytelling workshop for community mobilisers held at Lucknow
Protective, Effective, “N” Context based Initiation of Learning (PENCIL) is the flagship program that Vigyan Foundation implements under its education theme. The program model believes in an activity-based learning approach for helping children in their elementary years achieve their learning outcomes.
Vigyan Foundation, Lucknow, organized a two day capacity-building program for its field coordinators, community mobilizers, learning facilitators who are directly engaged with children in schools and communities. Effective storytelling techniques were shared to capture the attention of children, families and communities, help them understand complex ideas, and even improve their literacy, numeracy and SEL skill in the centers and communities. In two days, the participants learnt various techniques of storytelling, theatre games, voice modulation, and the use of gestures in storytelling. Props were also made to enhance the effect of stories. The participants also learned to read picture books effectively.
